In our pursuit of efficiency, we’ve entrusted systems and third parties to safeguard identity, but when the breach hits, we’re on our own and we’re not ready.

We didn’t get here through negligence; we got here by scaling smart. SaaS, cloud, and automation were the obvious choices, but in doing so, we’ve extended our trust fabric far beyond our line of sight, into layers of third parties, APIs, and inherited controls we often don’t govern.

In 2024, Microsoft blocked over 600 million identity-based attacks per day, and that’s just what was caught. Behind the numbers lies a more dangerous truth: automation is outpacing control, identity sprawl is exploding, and most organizations are sleepwalking into a recoverability crisis. Machine identities now outnumber humans 45 to 1 in some enterprises. Privileged scripts and APIs are being provisioned faster than they’re reviewed. When identity fails, through compromise or misconfiguration, the business doesn’t stumble, it falls.
